Hasegawawere the gold standard back when Revell, Monogram, and Heller were the main offerings. Some of their older stuff isn’t great (but that goes for pretty much any model company), and they have notoriously sparse cockpits but they usually have good fit and are engineered well. Everytime i put together revell models i get so frustrated because some of the parts just dont seem to fit right and the runners just do not protect
Ian the true shape of the cam track fairing lies somewhere between the Revell and Matchbox offerings. If anything, the Revell example is closest, believe it or not. Overall, the Revell kit is rather good, with Airfix's current (1980's) kit scoring in some areas, although for general finesse, the Revell kit wins. Theinstructions are easy to follow and the parts look good. This should make into a nice model of the Olympic. Revell model kits are available from all good toy and model retailers. For further Plasticmodel kits would be incredibly expensive if they sold in the quantities of resin kits. The injection mold tools are probably at least $100k for a plastic kit. And the plastic material is probably about 50 cents. They spread the cost of the tooling over making thousands of kit.
