Hi all. Until few days ago I used to be happy owner of C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 HDi. One morning when I've started the car, dashboard gave me lot of fault messages and automatic handbrake didn't want to release. Messages were like: Braking system faulty, ESR system faulty, ABS faulty, Pretensioner belt/Airbag faulty.
Joined: Nov 06 2013. Location: uk barnsley. Hi all. My car is 07 C4GP EGS 1.6HDI. I have a Hill start assist fault/ esp fault that doesn't clear and my local garage cannot find any fault codes. Now I'm no expert but I am assuming that the hill assist must get a signal from a sensor. Having searched ebay and google the results are minimal. Not 100% sure on the arrangement of the C5 rear brakes, but I think it's the same as the C4 Picasso - ie central unit with cables? In which case, yes, you should be able to DIY. Just set the handbrake to not come on automatically via the menu, then proceed as normal with the pad change, unhooking the cables as required, and winding the pistons

(1) An electrical fault or sensor fault. or (2) Crud on the sensors. With the grot and grime from recent snow and slush I had the car telling me "Brake now!". It eventually turned the sensors off. I wiped the bumpers and all was fine.
